should i play or should i dope..
The other day i was forced to sit through a ridiculously boring concert.Yet another set of "good" bands which totally sucked ass. i hate going to most concerts. I am too involved with the music to go and "head bang". And if they are even slightly bad i totally reject the band and get out of the place. Zero tolerance zone. But here i was being forced and i had no choice. As band after band went through their sets. i sat at the bar sipping my drink. After a bit this boy with long hair came up and said hi. Now i am so not used to men walking up to me in bars saying hi... i had a WTF look on my face.
He went on to tell me who he was and which college he used to go to. and i thought he sure doesn't want just a matchbox or something. why would he gimme his whole fuckin' resume. However he explained further that at some point in the long long ago's i had performed at the amphitheater of his prestigious engineering institute. Well i was flattered that he remembered (esp. since i have cut my hair short now). He went on to tell me that since he was one of the organisers, they were hanging out with the musicians after the gig;drinking and that i had given him a guitar pick (plectrum for the stupidly uninitiated). He told me he still had that guitar pick and went on to take it out from his wallet. i was astounded. He said and i quote "This pick is the sole reason why i took up guitar and formed a band".
This was the single best thing that happened to me this week. But when he told me that it was his band that made me cringe as they butchered Metallica's master of puppets, i wondered if i had done the right thing by giving him a pick. If i had a gram of cocaine for every bad band that i have seen performing i would be a super rich drug dealer now.
